\nWe had a fantastic time with our friends near Melbourne and set off late for our adventures down the Great Ocean Road. This wonderful windy road down the coast of southern Australia is amazing for the views and surrounds, but also if you enjoy driving you would love this road. As Erich slowly turned green I was having a great time and glad I was still the driver at this destination. We also came across some great places along the way and whilst dodging the Chinese tourists and their selfie sticks still managed to find some quieter spots to soak up the views <\/p>\n

\n\"\"<\/a>   <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>  
\nWe headed to Port Cambell for our overnight stop and the plan to get up for sun rise at the twelve apostles. After being told at check in not to bother getting up early as the sun is to the wrong side at sun rise we went for a walk in the beach and was glad for a longer sleep in the morning. <\/p>\n

We were both excited for our next stay in the Grampions at Halls Gap. We were asked why we wanted to visit this area when we had the Alps in Switzerland. Well seeing copper head snakes, blue tongue lizards, echidnas, wallabies, Kangeroos, parrots, cockatoos, blue wrens etc would not be possible and we saw all of these and much more. It was stunning, relaxing, some tough hikes and beautiful sites. We had an amazing place to stay when our terrace backed into a field of wild deer, Kangeroos and surrounded but cockatoos. To watch the sun set and all the animals was a treat, and just as it got too dark to see them the stars were out so bright and clear it was stunning. <\/p>\n

\nOne of the hikes we did was to the Pinnacles from our lodge, which was a hot challenging 5 hour hike and climb. Even with a few wrong turns and started to climb a well known waterfall as it was so dry it hardly had any water. The hike was well worth it to get the views and all the sights along the way and be rewarded with the sense of achievement at the top…<\/p>\n

   
\n\"\"<\/a> And the reward of ice cold craft beer and giant home made baileys cheesecake at the bottom. This was a great day!!!<\/p>\n

\nWe had really enjoyed our time in Halls Gap even if Erich had been there twice before I think we will definitely go back one day. What was sad is that last time Erich was there he saw koalas in the wild, but tragically they were wiped out by chlamidia a few years ago and none left. To make up for missing seeing them we did a stop in Halls gap zoo before heading to Melbourne to get our next flight. Next stop Tazmania!<\/p>\n
